Nominations for Board members and officers of our chapter are now open and will also be taken at our August meeting and at the September meeting prior to voting. Everyone who has been to our dances or around Cajun music anywhere knows that the Cajun culture and its wonderful music are in a fragile state. It needs constant care to keep from fading into the dustbin of history. We need some good people to come to our meetings, to get involved and accept a board position or be on a committee. Although we enjoy a large membership the simple fact is that too few have been doing all the work. This group is getting smaller and will eventually dry up unless others step up. Please consider giving a couple of hours a month to your culture, it will make a difference between having Cajun music in Baton Rouge in years to come or just wishing for the good old days. It is really quite simple; this is a very serious juncture for our Chapter. Come to our next meeting August 11th at the Bluebonnet Library, we’d love to have you join us.
Merci, John Pellerin
