Our Friday Dances continue to draw good crowds including lots of young people and even some visitors from across the country. It’s also very encouraging to have a large number of people taking the free Cajun dance lessons before our dances.
We feel that it is very important to use any and all technology available to promote our culture if it is to survive in today’s cluttered media environment. Please visit our revised website at www.batonrougecajundance.com. It will continue to evolve under the skilled touch of our webmaster Chris Claudet. Leaving no stone unturned to spread the joy of Cajun music and dance we now have a MySpace site, http://www.myspace.com/batonrougecfma, hosted by a young, yet long time Cajun music enthusiast, Wendi Monson.
Merci, John Pellerin

Calmar, is a squid. Small ones caught in shrimp nets in the Gulf of Mexico are a seafood delicacy in Italian and Cajun cuisine from New Orleans to Grand Isle. Pronounced Kal-ee-mar or Kal-mar-ee in both languages.
